History of Hasbro FX Lightsabers
Force FX lightsabers have been praised by fans and collectors as the greatest Star Wars lightsaber replica. The Force FX brings to life what was once thought only possible in movies. The FX lightsabers consists of a hilt modeled after its movie version. Attached is a polycarbonate blade containing a set of lights that illuminate when switched on. Moving the blade around, sounds of an actual Star Wars lightsaber emit from the hilt. When the blade makes contact with another surface, one can hear the sound of lightsabers colliding.
Popularized by the now defunct Master Replicas, Hasbro saved this product line when it began producing the Force FX Lightsabers under the the Hasbro Signature Series. First order of business for undertaking this task was to reproduce existing designs so that the availability to the FX community wouldn’t miss a beat. The lightsabers of Anakin Skywalker (ROTS ver.), Darth Maul, Luke Skywalker (ANH ver.), Obi-Wan Kenobi (ROTS), Darth Vader (ESB ver.), and Yoda (ROTS) produced by Hasbro were introduced to the public for the first time in November 2008.
Now, Hasbro continues to produce new Force FX lightsabers from different characters, recently an Obi-Wan Kenobi (Episode I ver.) and the anticipated Count Dooku saber. The Asajj Ventress lightsaber has also been announced and is expected to be released in December 2009.
Today, Force FX lightsabers have had a huge impact on popular culture. These lightsabers have been spotted in Hollywood films and television shows. People around the world make use of the lightsabers as a great Halloween prop or simply as decoration on their walls to honor their favorite film series or character. The Force FX line also has a huge following in the customization community. While not encouraged, customizers purchase the Force FX lightsabers to reassemble the parts to form their own cosplay prop for their personal Jedi or Sith characters.
